Senator Gary Nodler Files For Congress In The 7th District

“Southwest Missourians want a better future for their kids and grandkids. They want us to stop piling unmanageable debt on them. They want us to create jobs and make it easier to access credit.

Barack Obama and his leftist collaborators Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are dangerous to the continued fiscal health of our country and southwest Missourians will reject them at the ballot box in 2010. Obama’s insistence in pushing government health care through Congress constitutes a blatant and brazen socialist power grab.

These are serious times. Southwest Missouri needs a serious Congressman who can stand up to the unprecedented leftist agenda of these liberal radicals. I can be that serious Congressman and that's why I've filed to represent Missouri's 7th Congressional district."

David H. Jones Named 7th District Chairman of Nodler for Congress

Springfield, MO……..Senator Gary Nodler today announced that long-time civic, community and Republican leader David H. Jones will be the 7th District Chairman of the Nodler for Congress Committee. Jones is developing Nodler Leadership Committees in each of the ten counties to get Senator Nodler into each community to meet and listen to voters concerns.

“David Jones has been an advisor to me since he was my commander of Headquarters Company, National Guard 203rd Engineer Combat Battalion based in Joplin. David retired after 36 years of service in the Guard after serving with thousands of other Guardsmen now living in Southwest Missouri. He has served as a Republican Committeemen and helped lead Republican campaigns through the years. Since retirement David is now involved in veterans affairs and senior citizen issues which are central to my campaign for Congress,” states Nodler.

Jones is a native of Pierce City and attended Joplin Junior College and graduated from Pittsburg State University before working for the MO Department of Corrections as a probation and parole officer. He then attended the University of Arkansas law school before opening a law office in Joplin. He was appointed as an Assistant U.S. Attorney/Federal Prosecutor assigned to the Kansas City/Springfield office. He is retired from a law practice he began in 1978 in Springfield and devotes his time to support veterans’ affairs and issues of concern to senior citizens.

“David is well known and respected in the 7th District,” continues Nodler. “He is a current member of the MSSU Board of Governors and serves as President of the Board of the Harold Bell Wright/Pierce City Museum helping to restore it after a devastating tornado. He and I have worked together to support Republicans and the GOP since 1972.”

“We face a critical decision as to who we will send to Washington to be our Representative in the U.S. Congress,” states Jones. “Gary Nodler’s career path has prepared him to be effective from day one. His sense of duty, honor and values will represent us well and he shares a strong desire to have good government, just less of it.”

“I am joining a large number of people who are coming together to share Senator Nodler’s credentials, qualifications and positions on issues with the voters and to encourage them to discuss their concerns with him an give him their favorable consideration,” Jones continues.

“You can join our efforts. Please visit www.nodlerforcongress.com to study his qualifications and positions on issues and join our campaign to elect Gary Nodler,” concludes Jones.

“I am also pleased to announce that Gregg Keller, a current campaign advisor has been selected to become the Executive Director of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, www.ffcoalition.com. I support the principles and goals of the FFC and look forward to Gregg’s success in involving people of faith to work for good government,” concludes Nodler.

Missouri Association Of Veterans Organizations Honor Sen. Gary Nodler

JEFFERSON CITY………Senator Gary Nodler, R-Joplin, was presented with the Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations Legislator of the Year Award for his dedication to representing Missouri veterans’ best interests. He accepted the award on Monday, February 1st, in Jefferson City.  Senator Nodler, a veteran served in the United States Army and Missouri National Guard as a member of the 203rd Engineers Battalion in Pierce City and Joplin. He is a member of Robert S. Thurman American Legion Post 13 in Joplin.

“I am both honored and deeply humbled by this award. I’ve had the unique opportunity to work for veterans since 1973 when Congressman Gene Taylor asked me to learn as much as I could about veterans programs and benefits and to be of service when veterans needed the Congressman’s assistance. For 35 years I have been able to work at the state and federal level of government for veterans. I have worked with many people who have the veterans’ best interest at heart to recognize and remember the service and sacrifice those men and women have given to our nation and the world. I will continue to work and to stand by our commitments to veterans to provide the benefits of education, job training, health care services, pensions and final internment when requested.” states Senator Nodler.

“I am accepting this award for those who dedicate their time as Post Commanders for VFW and American Legion, the DAV, and all of the other organizations now representing those who have served our nation and who currently stand at duty stations around the world,” Nodler continues.

“I’m grateful for the work of the medical staffs at the Veterans Outpatient Clinic in Branson and the Gene Taylor Clinic in Mt. Vernon; for the outstanding dedication of the Veterans Service Officers who work daily throughout the state to assist veterans. In Southwest Missouri, David Schad, John McLean, Janeene Pierce, Bob Wilson, Clayton Cooper and Mike Hopper as veterans’ service officers represent the Veterans Commissions dedication to serving veterans.

I appreciate Chuck Wooten who worked tirelessly with many others to get the Missouri Veterans Cemetery located in Springfield where Director Steve Maples and his staff are providing a final resting place for our fellow veterans and comfort to their family and friends. It is a beautiful, peaceful place,” concludes the Senator.

The Missouri Association of Veterans Organizations is a coalition of 22 federally chartered veterans organizations and associations that represent the more than 550,000 Missouri veterans.

Spending Freeze Is Not The Dramatic Change We Need

“The President promises to freeze spending at the highest levels in history. First we should cut spending, and then freeze it.”

"President Obama's proposed 'spending freeze' doesn't represent the kind of dramatic change we expect and need to see out of Washington. His scheme is short-term in duration and small in proportion. I have been saying for months that we need to dramatically cut government spending; not cut the rise in government spending, but cut spending in real terms. If there is going to be any spending freeze, it should take place only after real spending cuts.

The only way to provide for long-term economic growth is to lower government spending, cut taxes and put money in the hands of Americans so we can create jobs. My experience as a public servant means I know how to enact this kind of reform and I'm asking the people of the 7th congressional district to send me to Congress because I understand how to get it done.

Victory In Massachusetts

When I  said I was looking forward to 2010, I never expected it would begin with a major Republican Victory in Massachusetts. Congratulations to Senator Scott Brown for his resounding victory.
Now is the time for Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and all the rest of the members of the majority party to scrap the current health care reforms bills and begin to work with the Republicans to address the real problems in health care. This should cause them to drop consideration of government-run health care. No back room deals, no parliamentary maneuvering. They need to make government-run health care go away.
Southwest Missouri has developed into one of the major medical service providers in the Midwest. People travel from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and from throughout Missouri to seek medical services because of the quality of care.
The hospital administrators and medical professionals I visit with have grave concerns about the direction of health care being proposed in Washington. I believe it is time to get the actual medical community involved in developing the recommendations needed to reduce the cost of medical services without threating the ability to pay for these medical services.

Looking Forward To 2010

Once again we have made it through another year and as we get ready to enter 2010, I want to take a moment to thank you for the encouragement and support that you've given Joncee and I as we have been traveling the district in our effort to represent you in Congress...
